Charmingly restored village house with an enclosed courtyard with Mediterranean plants.

Enjoy the peace and quiet and the hospitality of the local villagers. All amenities are 2km away, the sea is 10km away, and several walking paths lead out through hills and olive groves from right behind the house, which affords a beautiful view over the Messara and the surrounding mountain world with the highest mountain in Crete, Psiloritis. The house is in the middle of the village, near the beautiful little church. Even so, owing to the fully enclosed courtyard you can enjoy peace and quiet and privacy. Peri is a little village on an elevation above the fertile Messara plain, with nice and helpful locals and without tourism. You can immerse yourself in Greek life.

The enclosed courtyard provides peace and quiet and plenty of space to relax on different levels. The terrace on the roof affords a wonderful view of Psiloritis (the highest mountain on Crete), as well as the surrounding mountain massif. In the distance you can see the white mountains and on clear days the sea. There are olive groves as far as the eye can see. You can park a rental car below the house on the street, or drive up to the front door for loading and unloading. Nice neighbours will make many things easier in new surroundings, if required.

The house was carefully restored in 2008-2012, ensuring modern-day comfort. It has three separate bedrooms, two each which a largedouble bed, one with a single bed, as well as two beds right in the fireplace room, right in front of the fireplace. The large and well-equipped kitchen with a dining space indoors and outdoors provides everything enthusiastic cooks need for cooking and baking. Fresh vegetables can be purchased from the Saturday market in Mires and the best meat from butchers in Pombia and Sivas. The ‘apothiki’ (storage room) has a further fridge, a washing machine and firewood (on request).

It is 20-25 minutes by car to the beaches at Kalamaki, Matala and the beautiful Komos Beach. All around in the mountains there are many beautiful villages, breathtaking gorges and secluded bays. It is also just 20 minutes to the Phaistos and Agia Deka archaeological sites. The regional town Mires (Moires) with all the necessary amenities such as supermarkets, vegetable shops, doctors, pharmacies, a hospital and a Saturday market is 2km away, while Suvas and Pitsidia with lovely tavernas and cafes are about 10-15 minutes away.

You have the whole house all to yourselves, except a dear little (and watchful) dog called Boubou as an occasional guest. Therefore we cannot accommodate your own pets. We are available to assist with any queries or wishes e.g. rental car, flight connections etc. A rental car can be provided for the duration of your stay from/to the airport.

    “VIJF STERREN. Precies wat we zochten! De foto’s op de site geven een goed idee van de werkelijkheid: een ruim, comfortabel huis dat met goede smaak en liefde verbouwd is. En met goede smaak en liefde is ingericht.
    We voelden ons er meteen thuis en het was na een dag op pad altijd heerlijk terug komen in Peri.
    Wat niet zo goed te zien is op de foto’s: de vele leuke details in het huis, de ruime voorraad aan bestek, borden, pannen, de grote oven. En dat het huis brandschoon is. Dat het water uit de kraan ook drinkwater is en dat je niet naar chloor ruikt als je onder de (fijne) douche vandaan komt zoals in Heraklion.
    De verhuurder reageerde snel op al onze vragen, bemiddelde zelfs bij het goedkoop huren van een auto en heeft uitgebreide en heldere informatie over het huis op papier.
    Om het geloofwaardig te houden, dan nog wat mogelijke minpunten. De genoemde informatie is in het Duits. De vaatwasser is wat klein. Gebruik van de ruime muskietennetten boven de bedden is aan te bevelen. (Er worden dan ook (gelukkig) geen insecticiden gebruikt in het huis.)
    Maar wij zouden zo weer terug willen!”
