At Casa Vindemia, we (Nikos and Virginia Spanaki) have poured our hearts into creating a space that feels like stepping into a piece of Crete’s cherished history. As siblings born and raised on this beautiful island, we have always felt a deep-rooted connection to its stories and traditions. Driven by a shared passion for the remarkable Venetian-era architecture scattered across Crete, we ventured into short-term hospitality with a unique vision: to protect and share these historic treasures in a way that feels like home.

House 1 is a cozy, thoughtfully arranged maisonette that welcomes guests through a front yard filled with historic charm. On the ground floor, the living room and kitchen offer a communal space for gathering, framed by natural materials that pay homage to the home’s history. A striking metallic staircase leads to the top floor, where two ensuite double bedrooms provide restful privacy with beautiful views of the surrounding village. This house combines comfort with elegance, making it a serene retreat within Casa Vindemia’s inviting grounds.

The larger of the two, House 2 can be accessed from either the front or side yard, giving it a unique sense of autonomy. The ground floor boasts a spacious kitchen and a separate living room, ideal for gatherings and entertaining. The top floor hosts an ensuite bedroom and a smaller double bedroom, along with an additional fully equipped bathroom. This house has the flexibility to accommodate additional guests in the living room, making it a versatile choice for larger families. Designed for both relaxation and enjoyment, House 2 offers direct access to the secluded side yard, where guests can savor a meal, unwind by the pool, and enjoy the peace of the Cretan countryside.

At Casa Vindemia, the common areas are thoughtfully designed to reflect the historic Venetian influence that shaped Crete’s architecture, creating a tranquil retreat that feels both timeless and inviting. Private courtyards and a small, serene heated pool connect the property’s indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing guests to gather, relax, and celebrate the slow rhythm of life in the Cretan countryside.

Inspired by the Venetian cisterns of centuries past, the pool is a nod to the historic water systems that Venice’s settlers introduced to Crete, representing both refreshment and heritage. This symbolic water element, reminiscent of the cisterns used to capture and preserve rainwater, echoes the Cretan-Venetian architectural heritage, where rain was channeled through stone-paved courtyards to replenish underground reservoirs.
